HOLISTIC SIL SUPPORT AT MalagaCare
SIL support includes personal care assistance, meal preparation, medication support, household tasks, social participation, community engagement, transport assistance, emotional support, and supervision when required. We work collaboratively with families, support coordinators, and allied health professionals to develop plans that nurture independence, improve functional capacity, and reduce reliance on one-on-one support over time.
Beyond accommodation, participants can access comprehensive in-home NDIS support, including skill development, community access, behaviour support, daily routine assistance, social skill building, and 24/7 care where required. At MalagaCare, we ensure that participants have access to a safe environment, opportunities for growth, and a supportive team that celebrates their strengths and achievements.
We also conduct thorough assessments — including housing needs, functional capacity, daily support requirements, and relevant health considerations — to ensure every participant receives the right level of SIL support.
With MalagaCare, your independence is supported, your choices respected, and your goals prioritised.
What is Supported Independent Living (SIL)?
SIL provides supports that help people with disability live independently, including assistance with personal care, daily tasks, community access, and skill development.
What does an SIL provider do?
An SIL provider supports daily routines such as cleaning, cooking, medication assistance, personal care, and social involvement — helping participants build confidence and independence.
What doesn’t SIL include?
SIL does not include clinical medical care, therapy services, or rent/accommodation costs (these may be covered under SDA funding).
What is the difference between SIL and SDA?
SIL covers support services, while SDA covers the specialist accommodation itself. Participants may receive one or both depending on needs.
How many levels of SIL funding exist?
There are multiple tiers of SIL funding ranging from low to high support needs. Your funding level is determined by assessments of your functional capacity and daily support requirements.
What supports are included in SIL?
Daily living assistance, personal care, meal preparation, household tasks, behaviour support, medication prompts, transport, community involvement, and 24/7 support where required.
